All curves and stripes: a design that reminded me of Barney Rubble, hence the name. Always seen weird furniture in the background of cartoons, (Pink Panther comes to mind) thought one day I'd design a range based on this. It's been a long time on the back burner!
Designed to stand out from the crowd, in a world of straight lines and 90 degree angles......this certainly does. I've placed this clock in several different bare areas in my house and it seems to adapt itself to suit the situation.
The colouring is created by heat which has produced a mixture of dark woody shades and blackened steel. Being very thin (5 cm), it can fit in hallways close to where people are walking without being in the way.
This clock is made from steel with a recycled copper roof and hands. The steel has been vigorously sanded to give a ever changing under pattern and then heated to create the top layer of stripes. The copper is roughly polished and heated, giving a multi-coloured patina. This technique guarentees a different colour and pattern each time. Every clock is unique.
A photograph doesn't show up the sanded pattern. As you move, the metal surface randomly picks up light and reflections. It will also pick up the colours nearby. I think this is fascinating to look at.
To finish each clock, they are signed with a mouse and sent to be oven laquered, giving it a high quality gloss surface.
